Julia White is an artist and writer who has worked in several media since 1990. She has worked in sculpture, painting, collage, performance and text, continuing an exploration of lived space, surfaces, events in time and place, and the residue of experience in us. Her recent show between things at 79 Smith St. was a response to the recent crises in Timor and Kosovo, examining the difficulty in finding a relationship to events which happen a long way away, but which we know about. Her last performance work was cement, a multi media performance and installation at Dancehouse in August 1997. She is currently working on another performance work called after bulls.
