Peter Latz was born in Alice Springs and raised in the Aboriginal community of Hermannsburg, 120 kilometres west of Alice. His earliest memories are of the forays for bushtucker with his young Arrernte friends.
It was these trips that formed the basis of a lifelong interest in plants.
